Player Bio

Pathum Nissanka Silva, a top-order right-handed batsman, representing Sri Lanka at the international level, while he plays for Nondescripts Cricket Club and Badureliya Sports Club, domestically. Silva has been donning the Lanka colours since 2021, but his claim-to-fame moment arrived during the School Cricket Championship where he scored an unbeaten 205 off just 190 balls against President's College.

Born in Galle, Silva comes from a humble background. However, the batsman already had a cricketing connection as his father was a ballboy, in his day. The top-order batter made his First-Class debut in 2016 and immediately made an impact. The selectors backed the budding talent and picked Silva for the series against Ireland A in 2019, where he thumped 258 runs in just two FC matches. After that, he played a hand in the 2019 ACC Emerging Teams Asia Cup and the 2019 South Asian Games.

In 2021, the Galle-born was selected to make his international debut when the selectors booked Silva’s ticket for the full-fledged tour of the West Indies. He made all his debuts against West Indies but stamped his authority the longest format. On his Test debut, the Lankan smashed a commanding century in the second innings at North Stand.

Seeing his potential, the Sri Lankan board picked Silva for the ODI series against Bangladesh, in May 2021. The top-order batsman displayed glimpses of perfection during his limited career thus far and stated that he can an asset for the nation in these hard transition times.
