Player Bio

A multi-talented middle-order batsman and wicket-keeper, who is also an excellent fielder, Sheldon Jackson is a professional cricketer.

Hailing from the small city of Bhavnagar in Gujarat, Sheldon played his junior cricket in Mumbai.

Jackson, who currently plays for Puducherry, was a part of KKR in the 2009 and 2010 season of IPL but didn’t get a chance to show his skills in the lucrative T20 league . After being sidelined for almost three years, he made his first-class debut playing for Saurashtra against Railways on December 21, 2011. Sheldon started dominating domestic cricket and in the 2012-13 Ranji Trophy, he scored four fifties and two consecutive centuries in the quarterfinals and the semifinals to help Saurashtra reach the finals of Ranji Trophy for the first time in their history. After an impressive season, he was signed by the Royal Challengers Bangalore head of the 2013 edition of IPL.

Jackson's authority in domestic red-ball cricket ever so increased when he finished the 2014-15 Ranji Trophy as the fifth-highest run-getter. After a prime first-class season, he was named in the India A team for the series against West Indies A. He was also part of Saurashtra’s squad that won the 2015-16 Ranji Trophy final.

On March 3, 2017, during the Vijay Hazare Trophy match against Chhattisgarh, Sheldon Jackson became the second Indian batsman to be given out for obstructing the field. Jackson came into the limelight when he became the leading run-scorer for Saurashtra in the group stage of the 2018-19 Ranji Trophy, ahead of Cheteshwar Pujara.

Scoring over 5000 first-class runs for Saurashtra, in July 2020, the Bhavnagar-born prospect decided to switch his team to Puducherry ahead of the 2020-21 Ranji Trophy campaign. His IPL dreams once again became true when he was drafted back to his former franchise KKR for a base price of INR 20 lakhs. Being 34-years-old now, his hopes for representing India might have shattered but his intention of lighting up the premier tournament is still alive.
