Player Bio

An explosive opener, Ayasha Rahman has been part of the ever-improving Bangladesh women’s team since making her debut in 2012. Hailing from the small town of Khulna, she started her domestic career for the Khulna women’s side before her national call-up.

Like most of the current women’s squad, Rahman made her debut against Pakistan on August 23rd, 2012 but failed to make amends of the given opportunity as she was dismissed on just 4 runs. Criticised because of her batting style, she bounced back after a year in the shortest format against India on April 5th, 2013.

After impressing everyone in the T20s, her batting form in ODI soon followed her when she struck her career-best 70 against a pacy Proteas bowling attack in 2013.  She led the Bangladesh run charts during the World T20 qualifiers, guiding her team to qualification, and then becoming the leading runscorer in the 2018 T20 World Cup for her team.

Topping the batting charts in 2018, she was a crucial member of the Bangladesh side that won their maiden Women’s Asia Cup in 2018 and also the 2019 South Asian games.

At 37 years of age, she has been involved in 65 international matches for the Tigresses and has no plan of retiring yet. For her, the greatest thrill of being part of the team is to open the batting with the skipper Salma Khatun and hopes to do the same for a few years before hanging her boots.
