Player Bio

A hard-hitting middle-order batswoman, Britney Cooper will be remembered the most for scoring the winning runs as West Indies won the 2016 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup.

After announcing her arrival in the domestic scene, Cooper was named in the West Indies squad for the limited-overs series against South Africa Women.

The Trinidadian made her ODI debut on October 21st, 2009 scoring 14 runs off 38 deliveries in a lost cause. Shortly after, she made her T20I debut in the same series on October 25th, 2009. However, she did not get to bat as the Women in Maroon won the match comfortably.

After suffering from a fractured finger in early 2012, the 30-year old batter made her comeback in the 2012 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup. Cooper is one of the most experienced batters in the current Windies squad having played four T20 World Cups and two World Cups. Her career-defining moment came in the 2016 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup semi-final against the White Ferns when she struck an important 61 to book a berth in the finals.

In a career full of ups and downs, the selectors have always relied on the experienced Cooper in prestigious ICC tournaments. After a poor run of form in 2019, scoring just 57 runs in 6 matches, she was dropped from the ODI squad and has failed to make a comeback since. However, with the power-hitting skills Cooper possesses, she has been a constant in the shortest format of cricket.
